Make the most out of your trip

I can’t express how grateful I am to be working already. I have so much I would like to be doing. Yesterday I realized just how much work I have to do on e-mail stuff. I have registered with a lot of marketing “gurus”, and I always think that I am going to get to really dig into some of this stuff. My plan is to get into that this week… But now to get this written.

Today let’s talk about making the most of the trip you’re planning… The first tip is, do not try to plan every second of your vacation. This is something I’ve talked about before on this blog, but I am going to keep talking about it. Families are busy. Mothers are busy. If you are not working outside of the┬áhome, you’re busy trying to make sure your children get everywhere they need to go, and your husband may also be counting on you to help him in his career. Most people have to live by a strict schedule… Vacations should be a time where you don’t have to do anything, where there is no set agenda. Sleep in if you want. Maybe if your family is really young, you might want to get a friend or relative to help with taking care of the kids.

I must confess that when it comes to food, I’m kind of like a kid. I know healthy eating is all the rage, but personally I like fast food. I love desserts… On vacations, will it kill you to eat what you like instead of what’s good for you? I don’t think so. You may also want to try some new cuisine. Again Here again, you may want to leave your little ones behind, and enjoy a date with your husband.

I think I am going to go on to some other things for now. Let me know if you have any ideas of your own of how to make a vacation special.

Travel decisions based on what the children want

I am going to be honest, I am having a hard time getting into work stuff. I am just, well, we had a very busy weekend. Some people we met when I was four years old were part of an art show. We went to help and be part of what what was happening there. It was a lot of fun. And I got to reconnect with a dear friend from elementary school. I was catching up my personal journal and things like that. But I’ve got to get to work.

Today let’s talk more about multi generational travel. According to a new study that has come out, families, especially when we’re talking about more than a single family gathering, families decide to take trips based on the children of the family would want . More and more families are getting input from the younger set when it comes time to decide what to do on vacation. Part of the reason for this is that the people paying for for these trips are the grandparents. Everyone knows how much grandparents like to spoil the little ones. And a lot of times, this helps young families enjoy trips they may not otherwise be able to afford. The study also shows that families do want to spend time together. They do want to reconnect and make memories together… If your family is wanting to put a trip like this together, I would welcome the opportunity to help you with that.

How to get a passport for your child

I am having some trouble getting my mind in gear for work. It’s December, the beginning of the holiday season. I have a lot on my mind with the trip I’m going to take and the holidays. But this needs to be done, so I am going to get started on that.

Back to our discussion about getting passports. Today let’s talk about getting a passport for your child, which is more complicated. You will have get something saying that both of you parents agree to get your child a passport. If you are divorced and are not on the good terms with the other parent, this may get more complicated. But hopefully your family is still in tact, and you won’t have to worry about that. It is best if both the parents take the child and go to the application place at least six weeks before you plan to leave on your trip.

You are going to need something that proves that you are the child’s parents. You will also need to sign something that says you consent to have your child get a passport. You will need to have something that proves that you are a citizen of this country. You should also have a passport photo for your child, and your fees. It is best to have the child’s birth certificate. I am going to stop here. If you have questions about getting your children’s passport, please let me know. I’ll be more than happy to help figure it out.

Getting a passport #2

I am going to be on the road this Friday, and I don’t think I am going to be able to do this. Kind of have mixed feelings about this trip because there is a lot I want to do here. But anyway, somehow it will all get done.

Now let’s get back to how to get a passport. You will have to submit your passport application in person if you are applying for the first time. You will also need to apply in person if you have changed your name since you got your last passport, or if it has been more than fifteen years since your last passport was issued. You will also have to do this should your passport get lost or stolen. In order to to do this, you will have to go what is called an “Acceptance Facility”, usually they will have these at the main post office in your area, your public library, clerks of court, or other local officials. It is probably best to look up your local acceptance facility before you head out..

You might want to keep in mind that while you are allowed to renew a passport through the mail, it is not the most secure thing to do. So you will want to remember that, especially if you need your passport quickly.

Wow, I’m kind of surprised by how much a passport actually is. it is going to cost you $135 if you are getting your passport for the first time as an adult. It is less for minors or adult renewals.. Let me know your thoughts.

Getting your passport

I have no idea when or how I am going to make this decision about where to go on my trip. But one thing I do know is that I am going to have to get a passport. Having never been out of the country, and not being sure I would get the chance, I’ve never looked into something like this.

So let’s look into what’s required in order to get a passport. The first thing you are going to have to do is gather the correct documentation. The first thing you’ll need is your birth certificate, or if you aren’t from the United States, you are going to need proof of citizenship. You are going to also need some kind of ID, maybe a drivers’ license, or something that both your picture and signature is on. Should you not have a picture ID, you will need at least two of the following: your Social Security card, credit card or library card. You are also allowed to take an identifying witness if you were not to have enough of the other identification.

You will also have to have a passport photo. The government is somewhat particular as to what they will allow as a passport photo. Your face must be clearly see, and it has to be a very specific size. So your best option is going to be to go to a drug store or grocery store that takes passport photos, and have them do it.
Next you will have to either go to a place where they have passport applications, I know that the main post office in your area should have one, or you will need to fill your application out online. You will need to answer everything they ask… I am going here for just. Let me know if you have any questions.

My huge Thanksgiving blessing

Getting your passpI have some news that I can still hardly believe. My family usually does pretty simple Christmases as far as gift giving goes. We’ll usually get a little something from one another and then decide on people in need to give to together. And when Mom said something about this being a simple Christmas, I really thought little about it. But this past Friday morning when all of us were together after Thanksgiving, they gathered everyone together. They had a big surprise for me. Everyone in my family, except my nieces and nephews, have decided to go without Christmas gifts and instead give me money to go on a trip out of the country somewhere.

At first there was no question, I was going to England. I’m a writer as well as a travel agent, and I’ve always longed to see where people like CS Lewis and Jane Austen lived and wrote. I knew I wanted to see London as well, hoping to at least take in a play at the Globe. And of course, as a Downton Abby fan, I would like to see where my favorite show is filmed.

And then something happened on Saturday that has kind of made me question where I really want to go. If this trip is to be an once in a lifetime experience, and it would be unless my life were to change pretty dramatically, where would I really want to go?. Someone came from Israel to meet with my parents. And I ended up listening to their meeting a lot. Going to Israel would truly be a dream come true, just like England would be… I spend a pretty good bit of time in the scriptures day by day. Seeing those places I’ve read about would be awesome.. So I’m not really sure what I am going to do at this point. I need to think and pray this through. I think I’m also going to talk this through with some close friends
