Tips for traveling with grandparents

As I am going through these changes in the business, and trying to get more done, I’m noticing that I’m more energetic in the morning and early afternoon. . I find that it is best to work on the articles I’m working towards getting published then, and after that work on else. I’ve just sent my first two out today, and we’ll see what happens.

When I was little, one of my favorite places to go was to my grandparents’ house. But I also remember loving traveling with my grandparents. It was a lot of fun driving with them because we weren’t always together. So trips were times for us to catch up. Today let’s look at some tips you might want to remember when traveling with your parents\your children’s grandparents.

  • The first thing we have to remember is that not all grandparents will be able to do the same things. Some of our parents are ready to slow down and take things a little easier. Other parents will be able to do everything we can do and then some. You should have a pretty good idea of what stage your parents are in before you set out on any trips with them.
  • If they are the type that are wanting to slow down some, you might also want to ask if they want to babysit for your little ones. Maybe they’d like to stay with the younger people while you and your older children go have some adventures. You and your husband might want to do a date night at least once while you are on vacation.
  • And please, please discuss your expectations for your trip before you even start. If you and your husband are thinking you are going to get lots of free babysitting, but your parents are hoping to get serious time with you, that is probably not going to work out well for anyone. So have that discussion beforehand and figure out what will work well for everyone.

We’ll look at this more tomorrow. I would love to know your thoughts on this subject.
