I am going to be on the road this Friday, and I don’t think I am going to be able to do this. Kind of have mixed feelings about this trip because there is a lot I want to do here. But anyway, somehow it will all get done.

Now let’s get back to how to get a passport. You will have to submit your passport application in person if you are applying for the first time. You will also need to apply in person if you have changed your name since you got your last passport, or if it has been more than fifteen years since your last passport was issued. You will also have to do this should your passport get lost or stolen. In order to to do this, you will have to go what is called an “Acceptance Facility”, usually they will have these at the main post office in your area, your public library, clerks of court, or other local officials. It is probably best to look up your local acceptance facility before you head out..

You might want to keep in mind that while you are allowed to renew a passport through the mail, it is not the most secure thing to do. So you will want to remember that, especially if you need your passport quickly.

Wow, I’m kind of surprised by how much a passport actually is. it is going to cost you $135 if you are getting your passport for the first time as an adult. It is less for minors or adult renewals.. Let me know your thoughts.

Getting your passport

I have no idea when or how I am going to make this decision about where to go on my trip. But one thing I do know is that I am going to have to get a passport. Having never been out of the country, and not being sure I would get the chance, I’ve never looked into something like this.

So let’s look into what’s required in order to get a passport. The first thing you are going to have to do is gather the correct documentation. The first thing you’ll need is your birth certificate, or if you aren’t from the United States, you are going to need proof of citizenship. You are going to also need some kind of ID, maybe a drivers’ license, or something that both your picture and signature is on. Should you not have a picture ID, you will need at least two of the following: your Social Security card, credit card or library card. You are also allowed to take an identifying witness if you were not to have enough of the other identification.

You will also have to have a passport photo. The government is somewhat particular as to what they will allow as a passport photo. Your face must be clearly see, and it has to be a very specific size. So your best option is going to be to go to a drug store or grocery store that takes passport photos, and have them do it.
Next you will have to either go to a place where they have passport applications, I know that the main post office in your area should have one, or you will need to fill your application out online.
