Today we are going to look at some tips on how to travel with your child who has Cerebral Palsy. First, it is important to remember to pack everything your child with Cerebral Palsy will need on your trip. You might want to make a list of everything that you will need.
For myself, I pretty much always take my wheelchair and my communication device and pointer. Other people with Cerebral Palsy use walkers to get around the house, and wheelchairs when they are going to go long distances. Some may need hearing aids or glasses.
You will want to take any medications that they will need. It could be something they take each day, or something they might need like an inhaler.. I am very grateful to say that I don’t need anything like that.
You might want to pack some of their favorite toys and games. This just helps them feel safe and at home. I’m sure when I was very little, I would take my dolly. But more than anything, I used to take my reading stand so I could read. I don’t need to do that anymore because I do most of my reading on my device which is easier on everyone.. Take food. Your child may have a lot of allergies, or they might just be picky. Or they may have problems swallowing and need to eat softer foods like I do. Most the people we’ll visit have a pretty good idea of what I eat and what I don’t.
